Funeral services for Charles Gene “Sonny” Fisher were held Monday, Dec. 18, 2017 at 2 p.m. at the Assembly
of God Church in Okemah. Interment followed at the Okfuskee Cemetery.
Charles Gene “Sonny” Fisher was born Oct. 10, 1946 in Okemah to Hollis Gene Fisher and Lora Spain Fisher. He passed away Thursday, Dec. 14, 2017 in Tulsa at the age of 71.
Sonny had been a lifelong resident of the Okemah area and a 1965 graduate of Okemah High School. Sonny also proudly served his country with the United States Air Force. He and Betty Starkey were married May 27, 1971 in Okemah. Sonny was an employee of Thompson Pump Company of Okmulgee for 42 years and had also received a patent on the CBM Pump which is a double standing valve sucker rod pump he created. He loved spending time with his family and especially his grandchildren. Sonny enjoyed going to his granddaughter,
Savanna’s ball games and designing her shoes and watching sci-fi movies with his granddaughter,
Stephanie.
Sonny served his country with the United States Air Force. He enjoyed golfing and was a proud volunteer firefighter for the Sunrise Fire Department in Okfuskee County.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Survivors included his wife, Betty Fisher of the Home; two daughters, Debbie Morrison of Okemah and Jennifer Zackery and husband Steven of Okemah; one brother, Rick Fisher of Okemah; one sister, Barbara Fisher of Okemah and two granddaughters, Stephanie Lynn Zackery and Savanna Jean Zackery. He is also survived by Bri and Aaliyah Drake, whom he considered
his other two grandchildren.
Serving as active pallbearers
were the Okfuskee
County Volunteer Firefighters.
Honorary bearers included
Richard Fisher, Kevin Reddick, Eric Starkey,
Kent Starkey, Jeff Starkey, Jimmie Starkey, Jason Starkey and Mark Starkey.
Services were under the direction of Parks Brothers
Funeral Home, Okemah,
and officiated by Rev. Jeremy Fairres.
