Funeral services for Rev. Kenneth Cooper will be held Tuesday, September 3, 2019 at 2:00 PM at the Parks Brothers Funeral Home Chapel in Okemah. Interment will follow at the Holahta – Sands Family Cemetery west of Okemah. Wake services will be Monday, 6:00 – 8:00 PM also at the funeral home chapel.

Kenneth Cooper was born June 8, 1948 in Okemah, Oklahoma to Willie Cooper and Edith (Sands) Hicks. He passed away at his home in Castle, Oklahoma on Thursday, August 29, 2019 at the age of 71.

Kenneth had been a resident of the Okemah area most all of his life and was a 1967 graduate of Mason High School. He was a longtime minister and enjoyed coon hunting when he was younger and especially celebrating family birthdays and spending time with his family. He was a member of the Birdcreek Baptist Church and proudly served his country with the United States Army during the Vietnam War.

He is preceded in death by his wife, Cynthia (Gibson) Cooper; his parents; two brothers, Floyd and Bill Cooper and one sister, Lena Mae Billie.

Survivors include his two sons, Kenneth Jerome Cooper and wife Evelyn Jean of Mannford, Oklahoma and Nathan Tyrone Cooper and wife Vanessa of Tulsa; two brothers, Jackie Cooper of Okemah and Rev. Jimmy Hicks and wife Rosie of Okemah; one sister, Geneva Coker of Tulsa; six grandchildren, Catrina Cherokee Cooper, Skye Whitetree, Brianna Cooper, Nathan Cooper Jr., Hailey Cooper and Hannah Cooper and four great-grandchildren, Cassiah Gaiters and Caesar, Joshua and Kendrick Whitetree.

Serving as active pallbearers will be Clifford Sands, Mike Sands, John Earl Sands, Nathan Cooper Jr., J.J. Hicks and Billy Cooper.

Honorary bearers will be Sammy Holahta, Wallace Gambler and Walter Factor

Services will be under the direction of Parks Brothers Funeral Home, Okemah, Oklahoma and officiated by Rev. Paul Fixico and Rev. Fred Lindsey.
