Nordine Jenkins
Nordine Jenkins was born in Okfuskee County on January 22, 1934 to Mardell and Sarah Jenkins. She was the third of eleven children.
Nordine attended school in Okfuskee County. She confessed her faith in Christ at an early age and joined the Holy Temple Church C.O.G.I.C., under the leadership of Elder K. C. Wilson and later, Elder Johnson. When it was no longer operative, she united with Full Gospel Non-Denominational Church under the leadership of Rev. Cleophous Jones, where she was the Church Mother.
Nordine previously served in the following roles within the church: Communion Table, Sunday School Reporter, Benevolent Treasurer, Food Committee, Choir Member, Wednesday Night Prayer Member, and the Boley Community Choir when it was in existence. Mother Nordine was also a former member of the Prayer Band, under the leadership of Rev. Teresa Hubbard. She loved to attend church services and enjoyed playing her tambourine.
Mother Nordine was united in marriage to Clifford Lee Tryon, and to this union, nine children were born. She shared her love with many and was affectionately called, Mother, Aunt Dean, Granny, and Grandma.
Her parents, husband, two sons, Grover Lee Tryon and Ronald Tryon, and eight siblings all preceded her in death.
Mother was called home to join our Heavenly Father on September 22, 2019.
She leaves to cherish her memories: seven daughters, Shirley Mobley (Larnel) of Boley, OK; Selene Fisher; Patricia Willis of Oklahoma City, OK; Marie Grubbs of Boley, OK; Pamela Milligan (Arluster) of Oklahoma City, OK; Denise Williams (Stan) of Midwest City, OK and Cynthia Tryon of Oklahoma City, OK; one son, Roy Tryon of Oklahoma City; one sister, Frances Parks of Oklahoma City; one brother, Donald Ray Brown (Jean) of Tulsa, OK; one uncle, Arthur Hopkins of Los Angeles, CA; three sisters-in-law, Iler Mae Jenkins of Las Vegas, NV; Willie Mae Parker (Frank Jr.) and Clara Smith of Boley, OK; one brother-in-lae, James Tryon of Oklahoma City; twenty-three grandchildren; twenty-one great grandchildren; eight great great grandchildren; and a host of cousins, nieces, nephews, other relatives, friends, and her Full Gospel Church Family.
Services were held Saturday, September 28, 2019 at the Amos Temple CME Church. Burial followed at the Chilesville Cemetery.
Services were under the direction of the Keith D. Biglow Funeral Directors, Inc. of Boley, OK.
