Barbara (McKinney) Armstrong
Barbara McKinney was born April 26, 1933 in Bryant Oklahoma to J.V. and Ruth McKinney. She grew up in Okemah and attended Okemah schools. She married Milton Armstrong on July 27, 1953 in Gainesville Texas. Barbara moved with Milton to Dorris California where he taught school and she worked in a bank and raised 2 children.
In 1969 the family relocated to Placerville California, where she supported Milton in his job as a local school district Superintendent while pursuing her degree in education at Sacramento State.
In 1973 the family moved to Yreka California. Barbara took a job at the Siskiyou County Welfare department where she made many friends. After leaving this position she worked at the Area Agency on Aging staying there until her retirement.
After retirement Milt and Barbara enjoyed traveling by 5th-wheel to Arizona and Alaska where they made many new friends from all over the country.
She was an avid Oklahoma Sooners fan and enjoyed watching football. She loved her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren and appreciated the time they had together. She was very proud of all of them and all of their accomplishments.
She was preceded in death by her husband Milton and parents J.V. and Ruth.
She is survived by her two brothers: Dr. Larry McKinney and wife Vicky and BG (ret) Ron McKinney and wife Judy all of Okemah Oklahoma; son Neil Armstrong and wife Charmayne of Lawton Oklahoma; daughter Lisa Armstrong of Waukesha Wisconsin; granddaughter Heather Mohler and her husband Chad of Oklahoma City Oklahoma; grandson Travis Armstrong and his wife Morgan of Crossroads Texas; great grandchildren Riley and Reagan Mohler and Hallie Armstrong; and many cherished nieces and nephews.
