Graveside services for Oscar Sherman Evans will be held Tuesday, November 10, 2020 at 11:00 AM at the Highland Cemetery in Okemah.

Oscar Sherman Evans was born March 4, 1942 in Clearview, Oklahoma to Janie Mae and Michael Woodson Evans. He passed away, November 5, 2020 in Tulsa, Oklahoma at the age of 78.

Oscar grew up in Okemah and was frequently seen in the pool hall downtown. After high school he joined the Navy and when his tour was up, moved to Tulsa. He got a job at the United States Postal Service where he met his wife, Glenda and was married for 40 years. Oscar was a member of the Harvard Ave. United Methodist Church and enjoyed playing on the church bowling leagues, helping with the youth group and being on the trustee’s board. He also loved watching his sons play sports and helped coach their soccer and basketball teams. Oscar never missed a game. When he retired after 45 years at the post office, his favorite and most enjoyable time was spent with his three sons and their families. Oscar was very quiet but stern when he needed to be and will be greatly missed by his family and friends.

Oscar is survived by his sons and spouses, Chris and Dorri of Claremore, Brad and Trevis of Tulsa and Stacy and Mary of Tulsa; 19 grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren, cousins, Clayton Nichols and Boyd Evans and numerous nieces and nephews.

Services will be under the direction of Parks Brothers Funeral Home of Okemah, Oklahoma.

Serving as pallbearers will be Christopher Evans, Jason Widdoes, Daniel Evans, Joe Garcia, Calvin Ross and Caiden Widdoes.
