A memorial service for John Kerry Baker will be held Wednesday, October 16, 2019 at 2:00 PM at the Parks Brothers Funeral Home Chapel in Okemah.

John Kerry Baker was born July 20, 1936 in Okmulgee, Oklahoma to George H. Baker and Cloren (Henley) Baker. He passed away Wednesday, October 9, 2019 in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma at the age of 83.

Mr. Baker was a 1954 graduate of Okmulgee High School and a 1961 graduate of the University of Oklahoma where he pledged with the Sigma Chi Fraternity. He and Maeva Barry were married December 26, 1959 in Okemah, Oklahoma. Mr. Baker was a past Seminole County Commissioner for four years. He also was the owner and operator of Baker Insurance Company in Okemah and Baker Service Station in Seminole. He worked, also, as a salesman and enjoyed playing golf and watching football.

He is preceded in death by his parents and one granddaughter, Emily Capps.

Survivors include his wife, Maeva Baker of Paoli, Oklahoma; one son, Clarke Baker and wife Kami of Shawnee, Oklahoma; three daughters, Claire Lemmings of Oklahoma City, Kerrie Ann Suarez and husband J.R. of Paoli and Carole Baker of Oklahoma City; one brother, David Baker and wife Daryl of Houston, Texas; eight grandchildren, Curtis, Leah, Lauren, Lane, Tanna, Kaci, Carter and Cristen and five great-grandchildren, Marlee, Bennett, Madeline, Cooper and Casch.

Services will be under the direction of Parks Brothers Funeral Home, Okemah, Oklahoma.
