Funeral services for Peggy Sue Hollis was Saturday, February 27, 2021 at 11:00 AM at the Parks Brothers Funeral Home Chapel in Okemah. Interment followed at the Highland Cemetery in Okemah.
Peggy Sue Hollis was born March 17, 1942 in Pell City, Ala. to Ed and Doll Hurst. She passed away Tuesday, February 23, 2021 in Prague, Okla. at the age of 78.
Peggy was a resident of Okemah who worked with her family for 10 years at Tipton’s and currently L&M Pit Stop. On July 3, 1959, in Talladega, Ala., she married Larry P. Hollis, Sr.; he later preceded her in death, December 31, 2020. Peggy enjoyed working crossword puzzles, watching hummingbirds and riding motorcycles. She especially loved spending time with her grandkids, Alabama Football, telling jokes and making people smile and laugh.
Also preceding her in death were her parents; one daughter, Brenda Gay Tipton; three sisters, Dianne, Shirley and Barbara Faye and three brothers, Tommy, Joe and Peavy.
Survivors include her son, Larry P. Hollis Jr. and wife Misty of Okemah; two brothers, Ed “Boog” Hurst of Pell City and Charlie Hurst and wife Jennifer also of Pell City; two sisters, Nancy Brewster and Violet Guthrie of Pell City; five grandchildren, Brandon Tipton and wife Kristen, Tracy Spears, Larry Hollis III and wife Tahsa, Dustin Tipton and Mason Blalock and eight great-grandchildren, Dalton, Christian, Crisha, Malaki, Dusty, Haley, Snowy and Jayden. She is also survived a host of other relatives and dear friends who will miss her.
Services were under the direction of Parks Brothers Funeral Home and officiated by Rev. Donald Baker.
