Funeral services for James W. “Shorty” Wortham will be held Monday, April 25, 2022 at 10:30 AM at First Assembly of God Church, Okemah, Oklahoma. Interment will be at Highland Cemetery, Okemah, OK.

James “Shorty” Wortham was born July 18, 1941 in Seminole County to Otis Dick Wortham and Icelina Mustin. He passed away Monday, April 18, 2022 at the age of 80.

He was a resident of Okfuskee County all of his life. He graduated from Excelsior school.  He worked for the Oklahoma Department of Transportation for 28 years and was currently working at the highway liquor store since 2002. He also enjoyed going to the casino, mowing lawns and listening to blues music.

He is preceded in death by his parents; Otis and Iceline Wortham; two brothers, William and L.D. Wortham and one sister, Edna Robbins.

He is survived by his wife Lanore Jean (Johnson) Wortham of the home; four sons, Preston Wortham of Okemah, OK, Donell Wortham of Okemah, OK, Wendell Wortham and wife Britney of Midwest City, OK, and Richard M. Wortham of California; four step-sons, Terry Osborn, Randy Osborn, Tony Osborn and Michael Osborn; two step-daughters Brenda Rockwell and Darlene Calip; one brother, Jimmy Wortham of Okemah, OK; two sisters Thirklied O’Quinn of Wewoka, OK and Caldonia Gilbert of Okemah, OK; also numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren and one great-great grandchild.

Services will be under the direction of Parks Brothers Funeral Home, Okemah, Oklahoma and officiated by Pastor Blaine Ryals.
