A memorial service for Callie Jean Smith will be held Tuesday, May 7, 2024, at 10:00 AM at the Parks Brothers Funeral Home Chapel in Okemah, Oklahoma with Pastor Quinton Rowan officiating.

Callie Jean Smith was born September 24, 1951, in San Joaquin, California to Rufus R. Rowan and Lillie M. (Adams) Rowan.  She passed away Saturday, April 27, 2024, in Okemah, Oklahoma at the age of 72.

Callie was a longtime resident of the Okemah area.  She and George Dewayne Smith were married on July 28, 1978, in Sherman, Texas.  Callie worked for 15 years as a cook with Okemah High School and 15 years as a cook at Colonial Park Nursing Home.  She loved to go fishing, going to the beach, and working with her flower beds.  Callie was a great cook who loved to go on road trips, watch scary movies, and was a huge Elvis fan.  More than anything else, she loved her family and especially loved her grandkids and great grandkids who will miss her dearly.

She is preceded in death by her parents; three brothers, Landon Rowan, Rufus R. Rowan Jr., and Burl Rowan and one sister, Lois Gwaltney.

Survivors include her husband, Dewayne Smith of the home; three daughters, J.J. Adams (Vince) of Okemah, Rachel Tillery (Steven) and Kimberly Hawkins (Shane) of Okemah; one brother, Randy Rowan (Shauna) of Okmulgee; four sisters, Paula Cooper (George) of Oregon, June Rowan of Oregon, Kitty Taylor (John) of California and Ava Garner of Okemah; 7 grandchildren, Valerie Degge (Josh), Ryan Adams (Ashley), Bailey Hinkle (Tyler Hamm), William Tillery (Rebecca Darnell), Johnny Tillery, Randy Tillery and Tyler Spain and 13 great-grandchildren.

Services will be under the direction of Parks Brothers Funeral Home, Okemah, Oklahoma.
