Graveside services for Edgar Eugene “Gene” Bond will be held Thursday, August 22, 2024 at 2:00 PM at the Highland Cemetery in Okemah, Oklahoma.

Edgar Eugene Bond, 101, of Tulsa, Oklahoma passed away Monday, August 19, 2024 in Tulsa, Oklahoma. He was born on June 2, 1923 in Coalton, Oklahoma to Cecil Edgar Bond and Flora Evelyn (Brown) Bond.

After graduating from Okemah High School he married his high school sweetheart, Irene Montgomery on August 15, 1942 in Compton, California where he worked for Consolidated Shipyard constructing troop transports for England during WWII. On September 7, 1945 their son Ronald Eugene was born. On December 19, 1952 they lost their baby daughter, Betty Ferrell Bond. In 1954, Gene began employment with Mid-Continent Pipeline Company and later advanced to the Sun Ray DX Product Terminal operations in 1964. In 1969 he was placed on loan during the construction of Explorer Pipeline Company where he finished his career and retired in 1988. After retiring, Gene joyfully spent numerous hours in his woodworking shop, playing golf and researching family genealogy.

Gene was preceded in death by his parents, Cecil and Flora Bond; his two brothers, Cloyse Hulbert and Joseph Dean Bond; his son, Ron; his daughter, Betty and granddaughter, Angela Marie Alexander.

He is survived by his wife of 82 years, Irene; his granddaughter, April and her husband Tony Stacy and his great-grandchildren, Riley and Brady Harrison, Mitchell and Landon Longacre and Blake and Blair Stacy.

Services will be under the direction of Parks Brothers Funeral Home, Okemah, Oklahoma and officiated by Rev. David Shahan.
