Blake Patrick Farris, 52, of Muskogee passed away on Tuesday, August 20, 2024, at St. Francis Hospital in Muskogee, OK. He was born on Monday, June 12, 1972, to Gerald and Dee Farris in Okemah OK. Blake graduated from Okemah High School in 1990. He then attended East Central University in Ada, OK, earning a Bachelor of Science degree in business administration.
Blake met the love of his life, Michelle Ragland in Ada in 1998. They married on Saturday, October 23, 1999, in Eureka Springs AR, and enjoyed almost 25 years of marriage.
Blake moved to Muskogee in 1999 to become the manager of Heilig Meyers Furniture until 2001 when the company closed. He began his 23-year career at the Muskogee Housing Authority in 2001, working his way up to Executive Director. Blake had a passion for leadership, serving as the president of both Oklahoma NAHRO and Southwest NAHRO. He also served as president of the Muskogee Rotary Club. He served on many boards and committees in Muskogee including the Eastern Workforce Investment Board, Habitat for Humanity Board, and the Bridges Out of Poverty Board, to name a few.
Blake loved watching the OU Sooners, playing his guitars, riding his motorcycle, and reading Stephen King novels. He loved animals and enjoyed going to fundraisers to support local animal rescues. He enjoyed napping with his cats and treated each one like the family member they were.
Blake is survived by his wife Michelle Farris, of the home; his parents: Gerald and Dee Farris of Okemah; 1 brother Kenny Farris and wife Michelle of Okemah; nieces: Ashley Farris and partner Micky Salinas of Harrah, OK, Kara Minyen and husband Christian of Tupelo, OK; nephews: Chris Farris and wife Alli of Gardner, KS, Blaine Batchelor and wife Amanda of Union Valley, OK; as well as several great nieces and nephews.
Blake was preceded in death by maternal grandparents James A. and Margaret Ricco Davis and paternal grandparents J.E. and Lila Goff Farris.
