Canadian Valley Electric Cooperative to host annual flag retirement ceremony: A tribute to patriotism

 

Marking 24 years of respectful flag retirement with community and ceremony.

 

Seminole, Okla – Canadian Valley Electric Cooperative, alongside the Seminole American Legion, will conduct their annual flag retirement ceremony on Tuesday, October 8. Food will be served at 5:00 p.m., and the ceremony will begin at 6:00 p.m.  The community is invited to the event being held at Canadian Valley Electric Cooperative, located at 11277 N. Hwy 99, Seminole, Okla.

The Strother FFA chapter will perform a solemn and dignified flag disposal using burn barrels provided by Canadian Valley Electric Cooperative. The presentation will illustrate the proper handling of the U.S. flag. The Seminole Nation Color Guard will present their firing squad and lowering of the Flag. Byng High School band will be playing taps. The Sac & Fox Royalty will perform their traditional tribal dance, and Canadian Valley Electric will present two winners of the Flag Retirement essay contest with a $250 scholarship.
