Eloise Marie (Barber) Burden

Eloise Marie (Barber) Burden was born May 11, 1932 outside of Okemah, Oklahoma to Guthrie C. Barber and Laura Mable (McGrath) Barber. She passed, peacefully, Sunday, January 5, 2025 in Tulsa, Oklahoma at the age of 92.

Mrs. Burden was a lifelong resident of Okfuskee County and was a graduate of Weleetka High School. She and Robert Clinton Burden were married December 26, 1948 in Weleetka; he later preceded her in death on July 6, 2008. Mrs. Burden was a kind, loving and humble homemaker who loved her family dearly. She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Weleetka and enjoyed reading, gardening and sewing.

Also preceding her in death were her parents; one daughter, Dixie; two brothers, Charles and James Barber and son in law, David Valenta.

She is survived by three daughters, Nancy Valenta of Mascoutah, Illinois, Penny Sexton and husband Jim of Okemah and Candye Sexton and husband Tom of Okemah; 6 grandchildren, Robert Valenta, Elizabeth Beeman, T.J. Sexton, Katie Sexton, Dixie White and Carrie Wilson and 9 great-grandchildren, Robert, David, Joshua, Haylee, Blaiklee, B.W., Charlotte, Lincoln and Bostyn and one more on the way.

Private family services will be under the direction of Parks Brothers Funeral Home.
