PUBLIC NOTICE II:
To all area students, parents, staff, employees, and temporary workpersons entering our campus. In accordance with Federal Regulations concerning asbestos, Wes Watkins Technology Center’s board of education has employed a consultant to formulate an asbestos management plan in accordance with the Asbestos Hazard Emergency Response Act (AHERA). Asbestos is a known potential health hazard. No Asbestos Containing Materials (ACM) have been found in any of our buildings on the main campus. Wes Watkins Technology Center is notifying the public that all its buildings are asbestos free and comply with AHERA. A copy of the AHERA Management Plan is available for inspection at the technology center.
PUBLIC NOTICE III:
It is the policy of the Board of Education of Wes Watkins Technology Center District 25 that all students and employees must cooperate in maintaining a drug-free environment.
Students and employees, who possess, use or distribute illicit drugs, including anabolic steroids or alcohol, shall be subject to disciplinary actions. In addition to suspension, expulsion and/or termination, students and employees are subject to referral for prosecution under applicable laws. Any employee convicted of any criminal drug statute must notify the employer of such convictions within five days.
Chemical dependency is a contagious, progressive disease that does not disappear on its own accord. Any student or employee of the WWTC district who believes that he or she may have a problem with drug abuse may be referred to appropriate local agencies for counseling, treatment or rehabilitation. For further information, refer to the school counselor.
PUBLIC NOTICE IV:
The Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act requires that Wes Watkins Technology Center, with certain exceptions, obtain your written consent prior to the disclosure of personally identifiable information from your or your minor child’s education records. However, the Technology Center may disclose appropriately designated “directory information” without written consent, unless you have advised the Technology Center to the contrary in accordance with Technology Center procedures. The primary purpose of directory information is to allow the Technology Center to include this type of information from education records in certain school publications. Examples include:
* Recognition lists;
* Graduation programs;
and
* Press releases.
Directory information, which is information that is generally not considered harmful or an invasion of privacy if released, can also be disclosed to outside organizations without a prior written consent. In addition, two federal laws require local educational agencies (LEAs) receiving assistance under the Elementary and Secondary Education Act of 1965 (ESEA) to provide military recruiters, upon request, with three directory information categories – names, addresses and telephone listings – unless parents have advised the LEA that they do not want their minor child’s information disclosed without their prior written consent.
If you do not want the technology center to disclose directory information from your or your minor child’s education records without your prior written consent, you must notify the superintendent in writing. The Technology Center has designated the following information as “directory information,” and it will disclose that information without prior written consent:
1. The student’s name;
2. The student’s address;
3. The student’s telephone listing;
4. The student’s date and place of birth;
5. The student’s dates of attendance;
6. The student’s grade level (i.e., 11th grade, 12th grade, etc.);
7. The student’s degrees, honors and awards received;
8. The most recent educational agency or institution attended;
9. The student’s photograph; and
10. The student’s electronic mail address.
PUBLIC NOTICE V:
Wes Watkins Technology Center does not discriminate on the basis of disability in the admission or access to, or treatment or employment in, its programs or activities. The Board of County Commissioners met in regular session in the office of the Board of County Commissioners on June 29, 2026, with the following members present: James Yandell, Chairman; Randy Stubblefield, Vice-Chairman; Mike Yocham, Member; Teresa Harelson, County Clerk.
The meeting was called to order at 9:00 a.m. by Chairman Yandell with the flag salute.
Roll call was taken and a quorum declared.
The Board reviewed the minutes from the prior meetings. Motion was made by Randy Stubblefield and seconded by Mike Yocham to approve the minutes of June 22, 2026. Motion carried. Votes: Yocham-Aye; Stubblefield-Aye; Yandell-Aye.
The Board reviewed check #1398 from Cross Timbers in the amount of $52.00. Motion made by Mike Yocham and seconded by Randy Stubblefield to accept the check to be deposited by the Co Treasurer to SH Fee M&O Fund. Motion carried. Votes: Stubblefield-Aye: Yocham-Aye; Yandell-Aye.
Safety/Emergency Management Director George Jones stated he contacted Red Cross volunteers concerning Welty storm issues, was going to check resources for a Weleetka family whose house burned and would be attending an EM conference. General discussion with no action taken.
Sheriff Amber Gaskins advised the Board she had openings for an investigator and deputy positions and Deputy Scribner has completed SRO training. General discussion with no action taken.
The Elected Officials gathered for the quarterly meeting to discuss any possible financial risk factors. Discussion as follows:
Assessor Carlie DeRosa – working on budget: contracting for VI: getting ready for trainings
Co. Clerk Teresa Harelson – collections and filings steady;
Ct. Clerk Sherri Foreman – funds are low; AOC budget cut again; need BOCC help with payroll again: jury trials went well with help from the Sheriff’s office; part-time employee is great help
Treasurer Lori Coplin – Brittany Dyer was present for Lori: hired a full-time personal tax warrant deputy
Sheriff Amber Gaskins – hoping to be fully staffed soon; no concerns at this time
The officials discussed: updating the county handbook to include insurance benefits, readdressing vacation/comp time and dress code; SEFA report due in August; CPA engaged for EON; budgets due. General discussion with no action taken.
The Board reviewed the request by Court Clerk Sherri Foreman to help with an employee’s salary again due to AOC budget cuts. Motion made by Mike Yocham and seconded by Randy Stubblefield to pay 6-months’ salary for a court deputy. Motion carried. Votes: Stubblefield-Aye; Yocham-Aye; Yandell-Aye.
